State of Solana Mobile: One Year of Seeker

One year after Seeker shipped, we tracked the dApp Store’s 12x growth, SKR’s shift from reward to utility, and the builder and distribution signals that emerged along the way.

In August 2025, Seeker shipped with roughly 100 apps in the @solanamobile dApp Store, enough to show builder interest, not enough to prove an ecosystem would form.

Twelve months later: 1,272 apps. Two hackathons. SKR evolved from incentive to infrastructure. Builders kept shipping.

This report captures one slice of Seeker’s first year: app growth, builder programs, token mechanics, campaigns, and distribution. Each section documents what shipped, when, and what signals emerged.

Summary

The dApp Store grew 12x, from roughly 100 apps to 1,200 active listings, with growth accelerating 4x after January 2026. Builder Grants and the Monolith Hackathon are the most directly evidenced catalysts.

GameFi and DeFi hold 62% of the store. Lifestyle grew fastest at +1,413%. DePIN grew slowest despite having the strongest hardware fit.

SKR is transitioning from campaign reward to utility layer, now embedded in payment, in-game currency, and prize mechanics across a growing number of apps.

The distribution signal is real but self-reported: Tessera PE attributed 19% of conversions to Seeker users; Loyal crossed $1M in deposits by August.

App ecosystem: from 100 to 1,200+

The dApp Store grew 12x. The growth curve matters more than the number.

Growth in the first five months was steady but modest, roughly 50-75 new apps per month, reaching 265 listings by the time Season 1 closed on January 8-9, 2026. Then something changed. From February onward, the pace nearly tripled, 150 to 200 new apps per month, sustained through the spring and into summer.

Two catalysts are the most directly evidenced: Builder Grants (opened October 29, 2025) and the Monolith Hackathon (February-March 2026, 400+ submissions, 66 countries).

Season 2 started the day after Season 1 closed; SKR launched twelve days later. No gap in momentum. SMS-for-OEM, announced March 2 at MWC Barcelona, is often cited alongside that acceleration.

The category split has barely moved, and that’s the story. GameFi and DeFi & Trading together held 54% of the store in November 2025. They hold 62% today. The top two categories grew faster than everything else in absolute terms, widening their lead even as the store tripled in size.

Lifestyle is the year’s most unexpected story, from 8 apps in November 2025 to 121 in August 2026, a +1,413% increase: Moonwalk Fitness, Cudis Wellness, Golf N App, Drip, daily habit apps betting that Seeker’s crypto-native audience wants on-chain presence beyond DeFi.

DePIN tells the opposite story. From 8 to 17 apps in nine months, the slowest growth of any category, despite DePIN apps having the strongest hardware fit on Seeker: always-on connectivity, location sensors, and TEE security make the device a more capable DePIN node than a standard Android phone.

The category concentration (GameFi + DeFi) suggests Seeker’s early adopters are crypto-natives doing what they already do on desktop, just on mobile. The builders paying attention to category gaps are betting on the same spaces.

A million devices with active crypto users is a better distribution channel than the general-purpose internet.

That’s how Anatoly Yakovenko (@toly) put it. Seeker is not the App Store, it’s a distribution channel for 200,000+ crypto-native users, high-intent, high-spending, already onchain.

The clearest gaps: DePIN (1.3%) has the strongest hardware fit but fewest apps. Productivity (3.7%) serves 200K+ daily users with almost no tooling. AI & Agents (5.7%) is growing fastest.

The distribution signal: what apps report

Tessera PE reported 19% of its Kalshi launch conversions came from Solana Mobile users, with registrations rising 300% after it targeted Seeker directly.

Loyal launched in May 2026 with $15K in initial deposits; by August that had grown to $1M in total deposits and $600K+ TVL, with 8,000 users of whom 512 hold more than $100.

Nomadz has shipped 14 releases to the dApp Store, crossed 10,000 downloads, and logged 60,000+ transactions in 2026, 80% of its total onchain activity.

XO App committed 10,000 active wallets producing 350,000+ daily social events onchain.

Each team cited Seeker’s audience quality, crypto-native, high-intent, already onchain, not its incentive structure, as the reason they prioritized the platform.

Builder signals: building the bench

Solana Mobile ran two self-hosted hackathons in its first year and sponsored mobile tracks inside at least five third-party events. Submissions grew 45%, from 276 to 400+, and the prize pool grew 35%, from $100K to $135K.

But the submission count is the less interesting number. What happens to builders after the hackathon ends is more telling. Lootgo spans the widest gap: a mobile-track prize won in May 2025, reappearing as a featured Seeker Summer app fifteen months later.

Game Terminal (Astrolab) and Pumpville World showed up in the same Round 3 window. Three hackathon alumni in a single two-week feature window suggests Solana Mobile is running its alumni pool as a recurring casting list, not a one-time prize-and-forget pipeline.

The sponsored track picture adds breadth: Colosseum Breakout (Apr-May 2025, $25K), Colosseum Cypherpunk (Oct 2025, up to 10 teams x $10K), EasyA Consensus 2026 (May 2026), Solana Blitz v6 with MagicBlock (41 mobile submissions, Jul 2026), NoahAI Nitro 01 (Aug 2026).

In June, Solana Mobile showed up in person. Solana Mobile joined IslandDAO on Koh Samui, ran dApp Store education, and builders who shipped received Seeker devices. Monolith winners also joined a private call with Anatoly Yakovenko.

The Seeker flywheel

Seeker’s growth over the past year came from a layered set of programs, each pulling a different kind of participant into the ecosystem.

Season 1: Earning (September 2025 - January 2026). The mechanic was simple: the more you did on Seeker, the more SKR you’d likely receive at token launch. No token yet, no staking, no yield, just activity-based accumulation over four months. By the time Season 1 closed on January 8-9, 2026, the dApp Store had 265 apps and a community that had been engaging consistently for four months.

Right now in the existing ecosystems, as you continue to use and engage and spend, that’s all going out. None of it ever comes back to you. It’s as much about ownership and loyalty and creating a connection to the ecosystem as it is anything else.

Emmett Hollyer, Solana Mobile General Manager, May 2025.

SKR Launch & Season 2: Staking (January 2026 - ongoing). SKR launched on January 21, 2026, twelve days into Season 2, with Orb by Helius as its first featured app. The design shifted from earning to retention: 24% APY on staked SKR, task thresholds that rewarded depth over breadth.

More than half of Round 1’s claims were staked within days of opening. From May to August, total staked SKR grew from 4.49B to 5.09B, a 13% increase during a period of broadly lower market sentiment.

Per the official Solana Mobile token-release schedule, 57% of total supply unlocked at TGE: airdrops, liquidity, and community treasury. Growth & Partnerships vests linearly from TGE through month 18 (around July 2027). The two insider buckets, Solana Mobile (15%) and Solana Labs (10%), carry a 12-month cliff before a 36-month linear vest, meaning neither begins unlocking until January 2027.

Seeker Summer: Campaign Layer (July-August 2026). Seeker Summer is the most structured campaign Solana Mobile has run: four two-week rounds, four hand-picked apps per round, two quests per app, SKR allocations rising every round. It ran four two-week rounds from July to August 2026, allocating 111M SKR total, rising from 25M in Round 1 to 30M in Round 4.

Nine of 16 apps shared results. Bakeland saw 16,000+ players during Round 4, converting into a sold-out 2,222-piece NFT mint. MINE (Offline Protocol) logged 20,000 monthly active users during Round 4, with its highest single-day usage coming nearly two weeks after the round ended, the one case where the spike outlasted the campaign. MattleFun saw 8,000 of its 11,000 Round 4 players complete full quests. Gable Guardians registered 11,842 players during Round 2, with 8,000+ arriving directly from Seeker.

Pumpville World drew 8,000+ new players in the first 24 hours of Round 3. Game Terminal (Astrolab) drew 7,000+ participants in under 24 hours during Round 3. Gorecats saw 10,450 players enter its Round 2 quest, growing to 13,800 total. Slimecoin brought in 8,661 new users and $65K in cash-game volume over 10 days during Round 1. Loyal reported $1M in total deposits and $600K+ TVL since Seeker launch.

Beyond campaigns, three moves in June-August 2026. dApp Spotlight launched as the store crossed 1,000 apps: curated two-week features driving organic discovery without quests or SKR, Memeb saw 500+ users from a single feature. In August, Solana Mobile added two more layers: a USDC Earn Vault (deposit USDC, earn yield via Kamino, native to Seed Vault Wallet, no third-party app needed) and a Bug Bounty Program paying up to $75,000 in SKR for critical vulnerabilities, with EthelSec as the first Security Grant recipient.

SKR in product mechanics

Beyond the platform’s own programs, a growing number of apps have embedded SKR directly into how their products work.

Payment: SP3ND lets Seeker users buy Amazon and eBay products with SKR at zero platform fees. Merchs.fun accepts it for merchandise. PassimPay operates as a payment gateway settling in SKR, USDC and USDT with Solana Pay integration; Nomadz uses it to let Seeker users book accommodation and pay directly onchain.

In-game currency: Parallel Colony staked over 108,000 SKR as part of its game economy. Cryptara Conquest made it the primary currency for crafting NFT guardians and weapons. Clash of Perps ties SKR to in-game discounts and a Seeker-exclusive prize pool. Raffle.sol uses SKR as in-game currency across its on-chain gaming hub.

Prize and reward: Banana Zone’s Seeker-exclusive leaderboard is structurally gated to device owners. Tramplin built a $50K prize pool accessible only to Seeker users. Murmo ran a creator reward campaign denominated in SKR.

The direction matters more than the count. SKR started as something you earned by doing things on Seeker. It’s becoming something you use to do things on Seeker.

Conclusion

Year one proved Seeker can attract and retain builders beyond the hackathon. The dApp Store grew 12x, SKR transitioned from reward to utility, and multiple apps have published data attributing real conversion to Seeker’s audience quality.

Year two will test whether apps that built habits can hold users after Season 2 ends. Two variables will determine the outcome: whether SMS-for-OEM produces a named consumer device, and how staking behavior holds once Team and Solana Labs tokens begin vesting in January 2027.
